COOL-AID BENEFIT CONCERT & DINNER

Go back...

JABA’s Cool-Aid program has meant welcome relief from the heat to those in need locally since 1985. This year, however, Cool-Aid will also mean cool sounds and hot times. To help raise funds for the cooling assistance program, JABA is hosting a totally new event -- Grillin and Chillin for Cool-Aid. The concert and barbecue dinner, with silent auction is set for Thursday, June 26 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm in JABA’s garden at 674 Hillsdale Drive (behind Toys “R” Us off 29 north) in Charlottesville.

Hosted by Les Sinclair of Z95.1, the event features music by members of the Acoustic Groove Trio (alternative/acoustic and R&B) and Sam Hill Records’ Bennie Dodd (country, oldies, bluegrass and rock & roll).

Tickets are $20 for the concert and dinner. Menu includes choice of barbecue and vegetarian entrées. Only 175 tickets will be sold. Tickets are on sale now at Plan 9, C-ville Weekly, Sidetracks Music, JABA’s Twice is Nice Thrift Shop. You can also purchase tickets online at the JABA website. A silent auction – Cash in for Cool-Aid – featuring something for everyone will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

The donations benefit Cool-Aid, a program to Make Heat Bearable, which provides air conditioners and fans to members of the community of all ages, who meet certain low-income standards and are in need of cooling equipment due to health problems. In the United States, each year, more people die from “excessive heat events” (where temperatures rise 10 degrees Fahrenheit or more for an extended period) than from hurricanes, lightning, tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes combined. For more information on Grillin and Chillin call Denise Barisonzi, JABA Development Specialist, at 434-295-0396. JABA cares about all aspects of senior and intergenerational welfare. The nonprofit organization works to promote, establish and preserve sustainable communities for healthy aging that benefit individuals and families of all ages.
